Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Powder – 9/10
Packaging – The packaging is the iconic Charlotte Tilbury vintage rose gold. The powder comes in a mirrored compact (huge fingerprint magnet), which is super sleek and has a sturdy clasp.
Product – Let’s talk about the actual powder and I’ll say it right now; it’s the most finely-milled compact powder I’ve ever felt. The quality of this setting powder is absolutely spot on. It’s perfect for dry – combination skin types. It mattifies the skin while setting foundation beautifully, but it’s not overly matte that it cakes up around the nooks and crannies. This is a great powder for setting the whole entire face and the under eyes because it’s so finely milled it’s almost undetectable on the skin. This is my go to powder for touching up during the day as it will never go cakey.
Cons – If you’re oily or have an oily T-Zone this powder won’t hold your make up all day, you will need to touch up after a few hours.
Hourglass Translucent Powder 10/10
Packaging – I love the Hourglass packaging and this doesn’t disappoint, they’re packaging is just so fancy. The actual powder comes out of a H ingraved sifter that doesn’t let you waste product.
Product – Super finely milled powder that has no colour pay off so it is suitable for every skin tone. This powder is like magic! It blurs out every pore and fine line on my face and thanks to its light-reflecting particles it leaves a stunning glow to your skin. Some powders make your skin feel tight and heavy but this is weightless, it is also flash photography friendly. This powder has only just come onto the market and I thought I didn’t need it, but oh my this is a game changer.
Cons – The packaging annoys me slightly as I like to tap out the powder onto the lid, especially if I want a lot of powder, and the H sifter stops me doing that without it going everywhere.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Powder – 7/10
Packaging – When I first purchased this powder I didn’t realise it didn’t come with a compact, you need to purchase the actual compact serperately. No I am not joking! The powder you buy is a refill which slots into the separate compact. I wasn’t impressed, however the compact is super light weight with the Giorgio Armani stamped on the clasps and a nice clear mirror.
Product – This powder feels light as air on the skin, literally I could layer and layer this powder and I still won’t be able to see it sitting on my skin. It just meshes with the skin and does not leave any sort of chalky powdery feel on it. It does not feel too drying on my dry skin and it doesn’t accentuated my dry patches or pores. I use this powder mainly on my more natural days, or as a touch up powder as it will never look cakey. I gave it a 7 because i do have an oily T zone and this powder isn’t my favourite at lasting power. If you’re dry though this powder is perfect for you.
Con – Doesn’t keep oil at bay and you need to buy the powder and compact separate (can you tell this is still a sore subject haha)
Laura Mercier Translucent Powder – 9/10
Packaging – Simple yet elegant jar with a screw lid. You can tip the powder out into the lid or simply shake the jar with the lid closed then use the powder that has come loose.
Product – This powder is a cult favorite that everyone seems to have and love. This is my go to powder when I want my make up to last all day with no touch ups. This powder is serious stuff, it keep oils at bay and leaves your skin pore less. I love to use this powder with a dampened beauty blender as I find it makes it sink into my skin for that airbrush finish. This powder for me will always be a must have, and I will re purchase it forever!
Con – If you are super dry, you may feel this powder is too drying for you.
Nars All Day Luminous Powder Foundation – 8/10
Packaging – This powder foundation comes in a black square compact with an attached mirror on the front. There is a compartment for the sponge and then there’s a separate compartment for the powder, so this packaging keeps the compact very clean.
Product – I love how versatile this powder is. It is a soft matte powder foundation but what I like the most about this product is that it is very lightweight and you can totally work with the coverage that you want. You can use it wet with a sponge and get a fuller coverage. You can also use it as a translucent setting powder just to set your foundation with a brush and then you can also use it with a Beauty Blender to really make it look like a powder foundation and add a decent amount of coverage.
Con – I would only use this powder to set the face and not the under eye.
