I am still on the hunt for that perfect mascara, I must of tried most of the mascaras out there!!! I mostly go for high street brands like L’Oréal or Maybelline because they always seem to produce the most popular mascaras. I have naturally long lashes however I need a mascara that creates volumn and holds the curl. I also HATE mascaras that flake or transfer, it just ruins my day.
There’s no denying Benefit know what they’re doing when it comes to mascara, their portfolio already boasts two of the best-selling mascaras in the world. The hype around their latest mascara launch, BADgal BANG £21.50, has been huge, so I wanted to see if it really would live up to the high standards they’ve set. The new formula was created using super-lightweight, aero-particles used in space technology, which is designed to give ‘gravity-defying’ lift – I’m not sure if this is just clever marketing or genius…
What it is: A water-resistant, volumizing mascara designed to give 36-hour, smudge-proof wear. It also contains provitamin B5 to help improve the strength and health of lashes.
What it does: The intensely black formula has a cone-shaped brush designed to reach from root-to-tip and corner-to-corner to create mega volume, and extra lift.
My verdict: I really like the packaging, the soft-touch finish and studs on the handle of the wand are really cool and unique. I found the wand to be overly flexible, so in some ways, I felt like I had slightly less control.
At first I was blown away at how this mascara made my lashes look. It lengthened, separated and curled my lashes like no other, what more could you want? It also made my bottom lashes look so long and thick. However the more I use it the most I realise this isn’t the perfect mascara. It’s good, but not perfect. When applying to your lashes you have to be super careful not to overdo it otherwise you can end with clumpy, spidery lashes very quickly, which isn’t cute. Secondly I can’t wear this mascara on the bottom lashes as I find it crumbles which is a big NO NO for me, but weirdly is doesn’t do this on the top lashes.
Overall I do really like this mascara and love how it lengthens without having to do thousands of layers, however I’m still on the hunt for the perfect voulumising mascara.
Watch this space.
