Dior Rouge Liquid Lipstick Review

Get ready ladies, a liquid lipstick that is actually comfortable! Dior is finally releasing their first liquid lipstick. The Dior Rouge Liquid Lip Stain (£27.50) is an absolutely beautiful formula. It’s not the full on matte type of liquid lip  we see so much of lately that leaves lips dry and crusty, the Dior liquid lip delivers a soft matte finish with  vibrant colour thanks to the featherweight pigments.

The formula is so light and glides on the lips like silk but with super full colour coverage. There are 29 shades available in matte, satin, and metallic finishes. The shades range from stunning nudes to bold vampy hues and reds, and even a matte black and cyber silver!

The matte shades have 2-7% pigments. The satin shades have 1-3% pigments and 4-7% iridescence. The metallic shades are 17-20% iridescence.

The formula features a combination of wax, moisturizing oils, and setting agents. They set to a very long wearing finish. You will get a small amount of transfer in the very beginning but then they stay put for hours on end while still maintaining complete comfort. I never thought I could wear a liquid lip and not feel like I want remove it straight away. I have been told that this formula does seem to vary a bit between finishes and shades though so buyer beware.

These liquid lipsticks retained the same typical Dior scent/flavor of lipsticks, which is powdery-floral. They come in a nice sleek black tube, with the Dior style and initials on the cap. The brush applicator is very interesting, it’s sort of hollow like a reservoir for the product that will be applied on the lips. I find I only need one swipe to get an even coverage, and the wand make it very easy to get a precise clean application. Like other liquid lipsticks the Dior formula doesn’t crack on my lips and budge in the outer corners which is my pet hate. The colour doesn’t bleed however it does transfer slightly, which I don’t mind as it is only a small amount. Normally I need to keep checking my lip situation in the mirror every 10 minutes however with this I can leave it and not worry about it looking horrible and patchy! I can get a good 5 hours wear before I feel like I need to touch up the outer corners, but only ever so slightly.

These are the kind of lipsticks that are worth having as a staple in your make-up bag. They’re non-drying but their effect is matte, they’re well-pigmented but they’re wearable. The colour I own is 574 lively matte, which is a beautiful everyday pinky mauve colour, like your lips but better. As ‘Winter is coming’ I want to invest in some darker shades. I think this formula would be ideal for a dark lip as you won’t have to worry about bleeding, especially on a night out.
